Marilyn Monroe. Campbell’s Soup. Banana. My love and fascination for Andy Warhol began the first time I saw Shot Marilyns and Campbell’s Soup Cans. From the vibrant silkscreen prints, to the dynamic disco dance floor at Studio 54, Andy embodied everything a modern artist should be.
“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art,” Warhol famously said.
These words inspire me to create floral designs that incorporate texture, vivid colors, and bold designs. I love crafting striking arrangements that defy the boundaries of traditional design.
I was thrilled when Gina Crenshaw asked me to participate in the Magnolia Garden Club’s POP 2.0 Flower Show. On Wednesday, March 27 at 10 a.m. join me for a trip into all things POP. I’ll be designing on the spot – and you can have a free, front-row seat – for all the action.
The floral design challenge is part of a larger, two-day event exploring POP. Talented gardeners will interpret their knowledge of horticulture, floral design, photography, and conservation. As a floral designer, continuing education and training are vital to growth and exploration. This promises to be a thrilling event, and I hope you’ll check it out for yourself!
